एक प्रश्न...

पैशाचे मूल्य गृहित धरले जाते - ती फक्त त्या-त्या काळची मान्यता असते... फक्त एक मान्यताच - बाकी काहीही नाही... एरव्ही ती एक अत्यंत निरूपयोगी गोष्ट आहे.. उद्या रूपया मातीमोल झाला तर इतर देशातल्यासारख्याच इथेही हातगाड्यावर नोटांची बंडले विकायला येऊ शकतात.. अन्नाचे मूल्य पैशांत होत असले तर त्याची वेगळी अशी सत्ता आहे जी सर्व माणसांवर, सर्व परिस्थितीत लागू होते... कदाचित त्या काळात अशीच परिस्थिती उद्भवली असेल जेव्हा अन्न अत्यंत दुर्मिळ आणि पैसा माकूल झाला असेल.. म्हणून कदाचित " For the money has failed." असा एक अंदाज... निश्चित तपशील माहित नाहीत

वाळवंटात अन्न उपलब्ध नसेल त्या वेळेस पैसा काहीच करू शकत नाही.

For the money has failed म्हणजे विकत घ्यायला सर्वजण तयार असून विकायला कोणी नाही (विकायला काहीच नाही..) अशी स्थिती. (कधीमधी याचे छोटेसे उदाहरण शेयर बाजारात बघायला मिळते) शेतकर्‍यांच्या वर्णनापलीकडल्या भयानक उपेक्षेमुळे जी स्थिती येत्या काही वर्षांत भारतात येणार आहे ती. ज्यांना शक्य आहे त्यांनी शेतजमीन विकत घेऊन ठेवावी कारण अजून वीस तीस वर्षांनी ज्वारी एक हजार रुपये किलो होईल आणि आपला पगार वीस लाख प्रति महिना होईल, अशा समजुतीत राहणार्‍यां "सेवाविक्रेत्यांनी" ही शक्यता गृहित धरावी की पगार पन्नास लाखही असेल पण ज्वारीच नसेल. ती आपल्यापुरती पिकवू शकेल तो जगेल.

The Lord never fails (Isaiah 42:4) nor do His compassions. They fail not, they are new every morning (Lamentations 3:22-23). Heaven and earth may pass away, but Jesus never fails.
